La Mira Ra house, located in the South of France, is the fruit of a long reflection about the marriage of the wild nature of the Mediterranean and the minimalist purity of contemporary architecture – a marriage resulting in a unique architectural project.
The environmental footprint of the Square house is very small. The structure is made of a wooden frame and cellulose insulation, which minimizes the CO2 emission of the construction. The materials used are largely natural.
The new Vans headquarters designed by Rapt Studio is LEED Platinum, the highest standard for sustainability, making it the most sustainable in all of Orange County. The 182,000 sq ft center houses 5 fully merchandised showrooms with upcoming collections, a retail mock store, and a working library.
How a highly productive collaboration among a trio of creative Stuttgart-based architects and the client turned an empty lot in Esslingen into a family home for ages. “ We want to raise a family here. The kids should be able to play and the house should be open for guests.”
Sorrento Beach house is comprised of a raw concrete internal shell, wrapped in a timber exterior. The thermal mass provided by the concrete is insulated externally providing stable internal temperatures, and the timber exterior shades the concrete, further eliminating heat loads in summer.
Located on a small island off the coast of Maine, this project began as a renovation. Initially, our clients hoped that an existing building on their property could be rehabilitated: a structure that accompanied the 100 year old farmhouse that has been their summer home for close to 40 years.
The owner’s affection for a stone outcropping on her property inspired the design of this refuge house. Conceived as a retreat nestled into the rock, the Pierre (the French word for stone) celebrates the materiality of the site.
Project innovation / adjustable wooden furniture – In the living room, TV set, long bench, book shelf, display glass cabinet, lighting were all integrated into the featured bay window. The full height cabinet and small shoes cabinet nearby served with adjustable dining table, sliding bar table and two movable benches.
