Prosek Partners, a leading financial PR and integrated marketing agency, aimed to design a workplace fostering creativity, fun, and connection for its employees. CEO Jen Prosek envisioned the 34,000-square-foot headquarters at 28 East 28th Street in New York City as a space that feels “better than home.” Consequently, Andre Kikoski Architecture (AKA) embraced this challenge, infusing the Prosek Partners Office with nature, bold colors, and elements reflecting Prosek’s brand identity. Ultimately, the result is a vibrant and personalized workspace.

Design Concept

AKA aimed to create a hub for employees, clients, and collaborators, fostering community and creativity beyond what could be achieved at home. Every detail of the Prosek Partners Office, from the tables to the rugs to the ceilings, offers texture, color, and comfort. Visitors are greeted by a wide, elliptical reception area with custom-made cream-colored leather tiles abstracting the agency’s logo. An organic, free-form sofa and an oversized elliptical ceiling fixture, softly illuminated by ambient LEDs, warmly invite all who enter.

Spatial Organization

From the reception, a ‘main street’ runs the length of the office, punctuated by clusters of intimate workspaces inspired by New York City’s pocket parks. These small urban green spaces demonstrate a tranquil balance between nature and city life, offering peaceful respite and access to nature. Therefore, Prosek Partners wanted to bring this experience to their employees and visitors.

Neighborhoods and Zones

AKA organized the Prosek Partners Office into different zones, or “neighborhoods.” These are separated by planted anthropomorphic tables made of preserved live moss and sustainably harvested birch trees. Each zone serves a distinct purpose, from collaborative brainstorming and individual work to community-building, meetings, and dining. Additionally, bright colors in hexagonal acoustic tiles on the walls and ceilings, along with custom carpets featuring an artistic adaptation of the Prosek logo, delineate these spaces. The neighborhoods are furnished with clean, modern desks designed by Italian furniture maker LAS.

Social Hubs and Amenities

AKA aimed to create engaging spaces and provide amenities that Prosek’s staff would readily use. Social hubs, furnished with sculptural Giorgetti pieces, are scattered throughout the office. Furthermore, a large living and dining area provides opportunities for employees to connect. The café space, featuring a large island lit by glowing concentric ellipses, offers a spot for a caffeine fix. This design element recalls AKA’s celebrated work at the Guggenheim Museum.

Outdoor Terrace

An outdoor terrace runs the length of the building between 27th and 28th Streets on Madison Avenue. Employees can step outside to an assortment of drought-tolerant plants and flowers, ample seating, and a covered pergola with motorized louvers. Moreover, the terrace features state-of-the-art speakers, infra-red heating, and an imported bar of Italian steel. Consequently, this space provides a vibrant outdoor area for work or relaxation.

Conclusion

The Prosek Partners Office, designed by Andre Kikoski Architecture, showcases innovative and thoughtful design. It successfully creates a workspace that fosters creativity, fun, and connection, making it a place where employees feel truly at home. The integration of natural elements, bold colors, and personalized details reflects Prosek’s brand identity and commitment to their staff’s well-being.
