The Lake Tahoe Cabins is comprised of three discrete structures that traverse the rugged and complex Crystal Bay shoreline. Each cabin is strategically arranged around the site’s elemental intricacies with distinct connections to the Tahoe landscape and lakefront below.
At Rau Haus, a 6.24kW PV array provides the home with 9,777 kWh of renewable energy a year, and two Heliodyne solar panels serve a 119-gallon storage tank. The home is equipped with all electric indoor appliances and an electric heat-pump HVAC system
Inspired by the property’s orchards, gardens and foliage, the interior design for this weekend home is a sophisticated layering of textures and color– rich blues and greens within a serene glass box.
Situated on 3 acres and surrounded by Maryland Environmental Trust land, the Slate House is a contemporary retreat that respects the nature and legacy of the vast and densely wooded site. The new 7,000-square foot building replaces a late 60’s, ranch-style house that was destroyed by fire.
Upon entering this dynamic space, one’s mind might not immediately jump to the quaint yet historic past embedded into the bones of this Battery St. location. In fact, if not for the humble design elements of Douglas fir beams, high ceilings, and stall like enclosures, there would be no indication of its original purpose.
The original home was a modest one story over garage, two bedroom, one bath home in the Noe Valley neighborhood of San Francisco. Similar to other homes in San Francisco, when built, a handful of other very similar homes were constructed adjacent to it, each slightly different than the next.
