The owner of Horatio Loft, BarkBox CMO Jay Livingston, purchased the loft space and wanted to embrace the 100-year-old building’s warehouse past.
This Balboa Beach Flat in San Francisco houses a robust family life for surfers, makers, art collectors, and their two young boys. The remodel for this newly imagined floorplan includes a new kitchen and three bathrooms among the many updates made to the home’s overall interior architecture.
These eight experimental apartments are all different, tailored to the needs of the cooperatives. For the construction, it has been used an innovative system of structural element of double wall, ELESDOPA, recently patented by a professor engineer of the University of Granada.
The project was born from the idea to link the different spaces of the house by means of a unifying element. This concept was materialized employing a suspended ceiling that communicated both ends of the apartment and overlaid the existing elements and the new intervention.
The concept of layout in this project is generated from this Chinese character “永”. The arc in the living room is like the last stroke of this word, presenting the dynamic relationship between common areas and private rooms.
The 324 Gallery is an example of how small residential unit could be used efficiently and multi-functionally. Through integrating the concept of gallery, Sim-Plex created a unique, playful sense of space that suit not only to living, but also as an artwork showroom.
