Finnish House Designed to Fit the Natural Shape of a Rock

Stormvillan is a Finnish house situated right at the heart of the historic villa district. The main floor opens out to three directions: The living room to a long view out to sea, the lounge west for sunsets across the dining terrace and the master bedroom takes in the junipers and wind blown pinetrees of the cliff it stands on.

Despite some bungalow-style additions to its verandah, the street-facing south elevation of this Parnell cottage/villa remained largely faithful to the original 1890s form. To the rear, however, a miscellany of additions and alterations in a variety of architectural styles, had extended the dwelling with consequential modification to the original villa roof-line.
