Melbourne houses

Carnegie House by Zen Architects

Carnegie Gallery House / Zen Architects

Carnegie Gallery House was created in response to our clients request for a compact home that would also allow them to create and exhibit their art collection. By placing a combined gallery and studio space upstairs and incorporating a large, north facing void over the living space below, the art is visible from all angles.

Perimeter House by MAKE Architecture 2

Perimeter House / MAKE Architecture

In a lively, active industrial precinct the form of this house can be understood as a perimeter condition; an expanded edge that sits hard up against the site boundary and in doing so, wraps and encloses the domestic program, creating an inner, secluded refuge away from the city.

Up-Cycled Warehouse by Zen Architects 9

Up-Cycled Warehouse / Zen Architects

Completed by Zen Architects, the Up-Cycled Warehouse project transforms a 1960’s warehouse into a comfortable, sustainable family home. Although the existing structure lacked the inherent beauty of older Victorian era factories, the unique character and history of this building were retained and enhanced through the detailing and materiality of the new additions.

Ashburton Trail House by Zen Architects 2

Ashburton Trail House / Zen Architects

Designed by Zen Architects, the Ashburton Trail House is an immersive architectural experience, drawing the power of the Australian landscape into every space. Built on gently sloping land in suburban Melbourne, this contemporary and environmentally friendly home is designed to integrate seamlessly with the inherent natural beauty of the existing site.

Mt Martha House Bird de la Coeur Architects 4

Mt Martha House / Bird de la Coeur Architects

Mt Martha House is a residential project completed by Bird de la Coeur Architects, a boutique firm founded in 1992 by Neil de la Coeur and Vanessa Bird in Melbourne’s Southbank. This site falls away steeply by 17m from front to back. The house is mostly viewed from above, from properties higher up the hill and this was a major design consideration.
