Our home away from home, this backyard studio apartment shares a site with a sunny yellow 1940’s bungalow. This ADU was designed as a workshop for the owner and a minimalist’s rental apartment.
The design of this studio apartment arises from the customer’s request to have a very flexible space that could accommodate different needs: comfortable for working, business meetings, relax, b&b and pied-à-terre.
Creating a really tiny flat is always a challenge. However, checking the continuously increasing real estate prices there is a really big need for bringing out the most of all square meters and create great living conditions even in the smallest places.
Inside a white box of 7.6 x 3.9 x 2.55m, three differently configured yellow objects are individually placed. As an immediate consequence, one´s physical experience of the previously empty white box has been dramatically altered.
