Camp Teton is a four-building mountain top sanctuary with front row seating to the Teton Range, and its’ infamous peak, The Grand. The site also overlooks the awe-inspiring Snake River Valley.
The m.o.r.e. CLT Cabin is more than just a home; it is a model of how architecture can engage responsibly with the environment, challenging conventional notions of cottage living while promoting sustainability and respect for nature.
The clients for this project live abroad, and sought a Canadian homestead — an anchor — for their large, young family. During summer and winter holidays, the parents wanted their children immersed in an Ontario landscape like the one in which they were raised.
Framing existing conditions as opportunities, the team created a coherent lot on which an old home and new DADU speak to one another, and to the landscape, via a design solution informed by restraint, material relationship, and attention to detail.
Tinderbox House is, at its core, a practical, understated family retreat, for a successful and local Tasmanian family. Responding to the many natural and manmade constraints of the site, the highly crafted design is an attempt to add to the ecosystem rather than imposing itself on it.
The clients were a family living abroad that commissioned us to design a holiday home that included a 20m pool as they wished to form a connection back to their native Aotearoa.
Our clients fell in love with this south-facing site and the idea of occupying it completely, without formality and off-grid. We proposed not a house, but an encampment: three small buildings embodying different aspects of occupation, clustered around a loose sun-drenched courtyard.
