A mid 1960´s villa by architect Guðmundur Kr. Kristinsson needed renovation and repair. The original house was a prime example of late modern architecture in Reykjavik. The project encompassed exterior renovations and retrofitting executed with respect to the high quality typical of Guðmundur´s design.
Wolf Creek Cabin sits in a lightly-treed meadow, surrounded by foothills and mountains in Eastern Washington. It is designed as two interlocking “L” shapes: a covered patio is located at the intersection of one “L,” offering a protected place to sit while enjoying sweeping views of the valley
The Woodpeckers house sits on a low brick plinth which provides a raised entrance area, as well as larger terraces around the house. The ground conditions mean that the gardens can suffer with boggy lawns at times.
Kiah House is an addition to a weatherboard cottage in North Fitzroy, Melbourne. The extension comprises two separate pieces of architecture, the master bedroom ‘haven’ – which sits beside the original house extending to the northern boundary, and the separate office poised above.
This elegant minimalist house can be described as a minimal composition of 2 seemingly floating masses intersecting at right angles. A 5m cantilever adds drama and gives the composition its unique character.
The Garden Wall house had to sit alongside the existing studio/garage building, allow for direct entry to the second dwelling from the lane way plus maintain access into the garage and to the studio above whilst retaining sunlight in the existing studio room, where the owner worked.
We were very fortunate to work with a couple who, devoted to the ideals of minimalism’s stark allure, asked us to design a house in the foothills of Tucson, Arizona, located in the profoundly diverse Sonoran Desert.
Villa 9010 is a new, two-storey, energy-efficient home for a young family in the seaside village of Dalkey, South County Dublin. Constructed in the side garden of the Client’s redbrick childhood home, at the entrance to a typical suburban cul de-sac, the site was previously occupied by the family’s garage and boat shed.
