Tree Vertical House sits atop a sloping, wooded site in the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. To minimize its impact on the federally protected dunes, the architects designed a vertical home with a minimal footprint. As a result, the house becomes a tranquil vacation retreat that soars among the trees, offering views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline.
Brickyard Residence by dSPACE Studio is an urban home that blends contemporary design with a deep connection to nature. The clients, who are passionate about modern architecture, wanted a sheltered retreat that still offers walkable access to the best of city living.
Zinc House was designed for a couple and their three children. They wanted a Lakeview home with a strong connection to the outdoors that preserved privacy in their dense urban neighborhood.
The owners of this Lakeview property wanted to create outdoor space for relaxing and entertaining. Their vision was to transform the yard to promote an open-air lifestyle that reminded them of California wine country, where they have roots.
This Old Town home was built in 1972. Designed by Bruce Graham, architect of the Sears Tower, it remained unaltered by the original owner until our client purchased it.
The design of Fox River Residence is driven by the site, allowing each room to have expansive views of the landscape. The main living spaces are created by intersecting rectangular volumes flanked by a double-height entry space anchoring the house.
Sky Vault penthouse overlooks Lincoln Park. The owner obtained 4,500 sf of raw space atop a luxury high-rise and wanted an open-plan contemporary residence that maximizes expansive city and lake views.
This 1890s home, located in Chicago’s Wicker Park landmark district, was a rental three-flat for decades and had fallen into disrepair.
