SHOTGUN HOUSE is a house model designed with SIP panels (Structural insulated panel). These panels are prefabricated building components installed in the Chilean market and available through different suppliers throughout the country.
When the owners purchased this 1970’s ranch home in Kentfield, Marin County, it was dark, dank, and in danger of sliding down a hill. The interior was dated and needed to be updated to modern standards.
Designed for an active pair of empty nesters, who still work full-time, this small home overlooks Little Round Bay, an idyllic deep-water cove 6 ½ miles up the Severn River from Annapolis, Maryland, and the Naval Academy.
Influenced by coveted Italian villas and the clients collection of Asian artifacts, the Waverly Place Loft combines an eclectic mix of antiques with textured, classically-inspired materials including oil rubbed bronze finishings, rich wood ceilings and limestone floors cleverly shaped to resemble ceramic tiles.
This 20-foot-wide wood frame townhouse, located at the end of a row along a narrow side yard, had existing front and rear extensions. The building volume was selectively manipulated—in some cases through addition, in others through subtraction—to improve room sizes, sequences and adjacencies.
Every room of the Light Residence contains paintings, art drawings and sculpture. There is a painting of Petro Slyota in the banquet room. Also there are several works of Nikolay Gluschenko. Part of the basement is taken by technical rooms that control proper operating of the house.
After a long search for a vacation home, our client’s patience paid off when a property in the remote Sea Ranch of California presented itself. When they saw the unique ocean front site, they instantly knew it would serve as the perfect escape from their fast-paced city life.
The Cherry residence was strategically laid out to maximize views to the mountains from the primary public spaces, while allowing the private spaces to recede and still take advantage of the site and site lines to the west.
