Recently completed, we designed this home for a family of four in the Nelson Preserve area of Suncadia, where the clients desired a home that hugged the landscape but had a peek-a-boo view of the vistas beyond.
The first request made by the resident of this apartment, was to have a minimalist environment, with references to Scandinavian architecture.
This box-shaped Japanese home is split level and has mezzanine floor at the center. The site is in new residential site, and this house is the first project in it. So, it was hard to say how the surround changes and I made a suggestion to arrange the main spaces on the second floor.
Le 13ème is a 250 sqm roof extension and water tank project situated in a dense area of Beirut and realised by the Brussel based office Notan Office led by Frédéric Karam. This roof extension is an extra apartment on a 12 floors tower.
Some of the most interesting conversations are when there are two opposing points of view. Blending historic and modern architecture is a delicate balance. This Mosman residence offered just that opportunity; to create a beautiful dialogue between the old and the new.
The design solution that resulted is the marriage of landscape and architecture. Though the neighborhood itself is graded flat, the parkland to the north is a wild original dunescape. By restoring our idea of the original natural state to the site, we created a set of hydrodynamic dunes with penetrations that allow water to sluice through the land
This residence is a modern rural retreat, a second home away from the client’s inner city penthouse. Designed to be minimalistic in detail, robust and functional, while maintaining a country charm and strong connection to the rural landscape, each space within the new extension sits in perfect harmony with its surrounds.
Utilizing the modest footprint of the existing foundation, the Abramson Residence was designed in a way to maximize its tight parameters while still creating open spaces, a dynamic feel, and an unrestricted floor plan.
