Located in Tres Lagunas, an hour east of Santa Fe, the Pecos cabin is a contemporary take on the traditional log cabins of the West. Overlooking the Pecos River with its excellent fly fishing, the cabin was carefully sited to preserve the old growth Ponderosas, Englemans and White Firs.
Behind an unassuming façade, the Courtyard house opens up to reveal a pared back design response, mixed with luxurious materials, and practical detailing. This existing building has been altered and extended, with the interior design responding to our client’s love of Japanese architecture and rituals.
This 1500 SF loft apartment is located in one of Tribeca’s most beautiful turn-of-the-century brick buildings. The renovation transformed a poorly layed out floorplan into a series of serene spaces.
Harry’s Fine Foods, sharing the name of the corner market that stood there for years, opened over the weekend in a full rebuild of the old store. Plenty of the past remains. The plan is to open with a breakfast, brunch, and lunch focus before eventually expanding into the dinner and nighttime bar business.
Vortex house combines familiar regular forms with more dynamic elements that suggest motion and spinning. The new walls are folded and pinched as necessary to make space, as if the entire surface of the new interior is made of a single sheet of folded paper.Â
On a steep lot in the hills just west of Cupertino the house will span from grade into the canopy of oak trees. The single level living area is entered from the sod roof/carport above.
In the eastern townships of Quebec, the courtyard configuration for barns has been used since the mid 19th century for convenience of access and for shelter against the wind.
The scattered and irregular gables of this Federation house, while absent from the contemporary extension, are suggestive of the casual arrangement of courtyards that now enliven the dwelling within.
