Raised in the desert, Andrea Calo grew up on the edge of urban sprawl in Phoenix, Arizona.
Between sunburns and brushes with cholla cacti, the desert made a great impression on her in terms of humans’ shared relationship with place. Exploring these themes, Andrea received her BFA in Photography from the Herberger Institute of Design and the Arts at Arizona State University in 2009.
Andrea’s foundation in architectural photography was built photographing desert homes in the greater Phoenix area. In 2012 she relocated to Austin, TX, where she spends her free time enjoying expeditions in her 1988 Toyota Pickup and cruising around town on her 1971 Suzuki two-stroke (when it starts).
