Hillclimb Residence is located approximately 30 minutes east of Banff in the mountain community of Canmore, overlooking the Bow River Valley and the Canadian Rocky Mountain range.
Nic Lehoux has been an architectural photographer for over 20 years, and a passionate observer of light, architecture and the human condition his entire life.
His worked is grounded in the rigour of large format film photography that defined his earlier career. That rigour is combined with a truly progressive approach to the documentation of spaces with people. His work has a uniquely strong and distinct signature. It is informed by the traditions of architectural photography, the sensitivities of modern photojournalism, and a keen understanding of both architecture and the way people move within a space.
Nic Lehoux works closely with some of the world’s most respected architects, defining in photographs what makes their work unique.

Located between the iconic Space Needle and the rapidly transforming South Lake Union neighborhood in Seattle, the Civic Hotel is a newly renovated boutique hotel at the corner of Harrison Street and Aurora Ave N.
Grasshopper Courtyard Studio offers an alternative density called courtyard urbanism. Maintaining the small footprint of a 1940s house (the lot is 4,500 square feet), a multifunctional 360-square-foot studio was added along the rear alley.
Located on the western edge of Gros Ventre Butte, the sloping site for this residence offers extraordinary views of the Snake River Valley and the Teton Mountain Range. The program of this contemporary rural retreat is experienced as a series of linear bars that parallel the valley.
This seasonal home lies parallel to the water, looking south into preserved agricultural land with the distant sound of waves breaking along the ocean shore, and north to a field of wildflowers and native grasses. The plan bends slightly to maximize views of the coastline.
Working with a progressive developer in the Lake Tahoe area, this collection of townhouses and mountainside residences is a modern reinterpretation of the ski chalet. Conceived to be smartly efficient and compact in plan, these ski-in/ski-out homes are designed around social spaces that take advantage of breathtaking views to the ski slopes and Carson Range beyond.
This Lakeside Retreat was designed in 2016 by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson in association with Bohlin Grauman Miller. Located approximately three hours northeast of Toronto, Ontario, this 3,300 sq. ft. retreat is carefully situated along the shores of Contau Lake on a remote, seasonally isolated woodland spanning nearly 100 acres.
