Overlooking the D’Entrecasteaux Channel, Killora Bay House is a seasonal holiday home designed for a young family and friends. The house siting and form is heavily conditioned by its delicate environmental setting.
From the shell of an old barn comes “Casa Bona”. The renovation project emphasises the contrast between the aesthetic lines of the existing building and the new construction elements included in the project.
Sited on a private coastal California hillside street lined with five tightly stacked homes, the 3000 square foot residence optimizes a compact footprint, resulting in an experience that maximizes outdoor living, without compromising the privacy of the family.
The clients wanted space for a growing family, outdoor rooms, and separate guest quarters, without losing the essence of the existing Circa 1900 home.
The concept of a narrow five-story house is to maximize the access of daylight and natural ventilation, planting greenery and spatial interconnection of all floors so that members of the family could communicate visually between floors.
Located on a remote hillside between the Urkiola natural park and the Urdaibai biosphere reserve, the projects site is found slightly set apart from a cluster of historic farmhouses of the Barrio Aldana, a nucleus of listed buildings.
This project outlines two strategically positioned with one cantilevered floor and endless ocean views. The glass filled top floor defined by volumes placed on a flat platform in different angles and heights
