This is a 1,300 m² house located in Hinsdale, in the suburbs of Chicago (USA). It was a relatively new house and my clients bought it and called me to adjust several things inside the house

This 1890s home, located in Chicago’s Wicker Park landmark district, was a rental three-flat for decades and had fallen into disrepair.
A new single family residence sits along the shoreline of Lake Michigan on Chicago’s North Shore. The house is conceived of in three levels. The base is a solid mass that forms a plinth and grounds the house on the site.
The clients, both avid cyclists and nature enthusiasts, sought to create a modestly scaled single-floor house that supports their active lifestyle and personal interests while quietly engaging with the ravined site.
Set atop a deep ravine along Lake Michigan, the Ravine house embraces the beauty and drama of the landscape. An intermittent pattern of carefully composed windows within a limestone-paneled wall creates both a sense of privacy against the street and sculptural patterning for the façade.
The Lake View Residence takes full advantage of its location on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan with large expanses of glass maximizing lake views. Privacy is maintained on the street side with a winding drive and opaque/translucent materials.
