In a historic residence on Manhattan’s 5th Avenue found in its estate condition as built in 1930’s, revitalize, renovate and create a civic residential space suited to the owners penchant for philanthropy; A modern think tank and forum for the display of American art.
We reimagined the learning environment for St. Hilda’s and St. Hugh’s, an independent school serving preschool through 8th grade, by designing spaces that offer unique learning experiences. Classrooms are dynamic, flexible environments that offer a variety of zones within one space to foster group learning and individual exploration.
In a newly constructed iconic limestone building on ManhattanÍs Central Park West, create a floor thru penthouse duplex with east/west views and north/south party walls.
In a Manhattan Federal Greek Revival townhouse that had seen extensive renovations in the 1880’s, 1940’s and 1980’s, restore the original structure, add two stories, excavate to enlarge the kitchen, create a garden and return this structure to a single family residence.
Use large architectural gestures to create a hierarchy of meaningful spaces in the conjoining and gut renovation of the two large Manhattan apartments. The entry gallery acts as the organizing bar that spans nearly the full dimensions of the apartment parallel to Central Park.
