We are in the attic of a 1930s townhouse in Prague Libeň. An apartment was built here in the 1990s. But there were too many rooms, more than the client needed, anyway. The joy of open attic space was lost in the clutter.
The Blue Building is a private townhouse located in Bushwick, Brooklyn. The complete gut renovation of a centenary townhouse brings the opportunity to create a statement on a vibrant changing neighborhood.
&Daughters designed the interiors of this clean, minimal, monochromatic home. The young, newly-wed clients, wanted to build a family home that felt cozy and contemporary, filled with great entertaining spaces and to reflect the owners’ unique personal style.

The challenge was to change the standard plan of the apartment, which did not fit the needs of the clients and to customize the space to their dreams. We wanted to create a sense of inviting and spacious space to the relatively small entrance area, 55 sqm.
The brief for this project began with “we want a concrete bunker.” Equally as excited by concrete, there was mutual trust and connection between our client and ourselves from the very early stages of the design process.
