This stone summerhouse of a family of four, spreads through 3 correlated volumes, which clearly can be defined as the seating & kitchen volume, the circulation tower and the sleeping & storaging volume. Around these volumes, the perimetrical terraces are unfolding, some under the surface of the hill, some at the same level and some projected over it.
Located on a 40-acre site at the base of the Teton Range in northwest Wyoming, this 6,500-square-foot house is situated atop a gently sloping knoll inhabited by a mature aspen grove. The Crescent house is situated to take advantage of panoramic views of the mountain range and a framed view of the Grand Teton is visible through an opening in the trees.
The work is situated at the Aghios Ioannis Detis location on the island of Paros. It has an eastwards orientation, with a view towards the sea and the Naoussa bay. The area is under a special protection order, and adjacent to it the Environmental Park of Aghios Ioannis Detis has been created.
The Stonewall house follows the material and constructive logics of the original wall-fence, but adapting them to current requirements. It is built entirely with load-bearing walls, reusing the stones from the old wall, mixing them with aggregate from the plot along with limestone and cement.
