One person wanted a pool to swim in (and practice surfing), another wanted a luscious natural wild garden, the grown-up kids wanted their own space, and everyone wanted to create a sense of home and being together. The planning concept was to treat the boundaries of the plot – the external fence walls – as the actual external house walls.
A fluent yet great gesture of linking indoor and outdoor was our main guide in this project. The house is built on a dual plot, and our challenge was giving the costumers a sense of privacy, intimacy and freedom with in their home.
Although from afar it seems one-leveled, this contemporary pavilion residence – which sits on a platform that rises 60cm above ground level – has another level dug underground.
The Black Core House espouses the firm’s Principal Irit Axelrod’s modern visual language, influenced by numerous International Style and Bauhaus buildings found in modern Tel Aviv. This design influence runs deep in all her projects.
