Bonita Residence is a small house for a couple that love to entertain and have fun. The couple wanted an industrial, loft look. We searched for an old building to reassemble on the site but the long and narrow site conditions narrowed the search. Instead we used old materials to repurpose in the house, including materials from the dilapidated house and barn that existed on the site.
The Sunnybrook residence was designed for owners who requested a clean, uncluttered plan with warmth and texture as rich as their Texas history. Because of the deep site setback, the structure appears to be suspended in and above the gently sloping lawn, which glides under and through the house.
Situated at the apex of a natural sphere created by a convex cliff-lined bend in Lake Austin, the house welcomes one from the realm of suburban banality through a focused entry procession and into another world- one of verdant woods, rocky promontories, and meandering waterways.
Forming the centerpiece of a master plan by the architects that includes a guest house, pedestrian bridge, and a small boathouse, Residence 1446 acts as a hub for the entire complex. Situated in a low-lying field adjacent to both a lake and a quiet lagoon, the home’s location was selected to preserve the existing trees and to frame large views of the site.
Linder house is a 3,700 square foot single-family residence located in a well-established East Dallas neighborhood. Informed by the owner’s fondness for reclaimed materials, and inspired by the vernacular architecture of the historic Texas Blackland Prairie homestead
Taking cues from the original 1-acre site and existing live oak trees, this 8,500 square foot North Dallas house with a traditional “H” layout is very solid, and in some ways, what you expect.
This weekend house is located on a beautiful wooded site on Cedar Creek Reservoir. The project program included the design of a main residence, guest pavilion, storage barn and various ancillary architectural features. The goal of the design was to provide an artful and low maintenance retreat that would blend in with the site.
