The Brooklyn Studio
The Brooklyn Studio—formerly CWB Architects and CWB Interiors—was rebranded in March 2022 to better reflect our commitment to an inclusive, collaborative practice that transcends any single individual. For nearly thirty years, our Brooklyn‑based team has married historic renovation with modern design across residential, commercial, and institutional projects throughout the tri‑state area. Guided by principals Brendan Coburn, Ward Welch, and Jason Boutin, we draw on a diverse range of backgrounds and skills to craft solutions that elevate user experience, address client and community goals, and improve everyday life through thoughtful architecture and interiors.
Founded in 1995 as a two‑person studio, The Brooklyn Studio has grown into a mid‑size firm renowned for its artful blend of preservation and innovation. Our collaborative process engages creative professionals at every stage—from adaptive reuse and bespoke residential design to commercial fit‑outs and cultural institutions—ensuring that each project honors the past while embracing contemporary needs. As The Brooklyn Studio, we continue our legacy of design excellence with renewed focus on equity, diversity, and the shared vision that unites our work.
