After a characteristically steep climb to the former storage attic of this building you enter in the heart of the loft. The skylight creates extra daylight in the darkest part of the house and is the foundation for a future home extension on the roof.
A former rental apartment in de Pijp, Amsterdam is transformed by i29 into a fresh and spacious loft. Originally, this old Amsterdam apartment had many rooms and scarce daylight. The main objective was to achieve maximum use of natural light and to create a spatial experience.
The long cherished wish of a private painting workshop became reality in the backyard. An unsightly shed grew to a light studio with attic. The side walls of the barn remained as witnesses for those who couldn’t believe this would be possible.

Casa Kwantes bases itself around the clients’ desire for seclusion and privacy, whilst having a maximum of daylight and open living spaces. From the road, the bare brick wall offers only a partial glimpse into the property and family life through an opening of the white brickwork façade – a subtle indented entrance leading into an initially dark and enclosed entrance hall.
