The house is made to function flexibly with and without visitors. It has been designed and built for an empty-nest couple looking to re-size as their adult children have moved out.
An ‘ode’ to family – driven by females, a black-owned family operating a boutique hostel in the heart of the west end. The project is an embodiment of collaboration with local artists, furniture designers and makers.
The design objective was to bring the 110-year-old dwelling up to contemporary standards by adding a three-story rear addition, improving the overall layout, and updating the interior finishes.
