This Pacific Northwest Retreat in the San Juan Islands sits on a lovely rural property with low-bank waterfront. The architecture responds to the site: one approaches through the trees to the front porch, then once inside the house, views open up to the water beyond.
The House in El Torón is the first to be designed within this reserve, and its conception emerged from two premises that enabled us to question and rethink the idea of a house on the coast.
Located in San Miguel de Allende (Mexico), Shoemaker House is a vacation home built on top of a pronounced semi-arid slope; this last element served as the basis for the creative development of the project and helps to achieve a balanced vision between low cost and functionality.
The Dragonfly Vacation house emphasizes the crossing point between these two ecological zones – a distinct yet subtle marker of the family’s presence and legacy.
Composed primarily of one large room, the Tofino Beach house is light-filled on the south side facing the ocean, and insular and protected on the other side, paneled in dark, rich wood.
Access to the residence is via a winding gravel road, through dense forest with occasional glimpses of the pond. Arriving at a small parking area, the house remains hidden behind a stand of spruce.
The Modern Prefab Cottage is a very efficient way to build, and allows us to create a complex architectural product very quickly and site it with less damage and disturbance to the existing site …
