The Ash Tree House is a stunning renovation in the heart of the Sutton Mountains. La Nony FAMILI led the project with passion and respect. They transformed a neglected 1970s chalet into a modern family home that honors its past.
Preserving Heritage and Embracing Modernity
The designers refused to demolish the old chalet. They chose instead to revitalize it. The project maintained key features such as a majestic ash staircase, a stone fireplace, and exposed beam ceilings. Inverted roofs still crown the structure. This blend of old and new preserves history while embracing modern living.
Reinventing Space for Better Functionality
The Ash Tree House spans 4,000 square feet over three levels. The team rethought every space to enhance flow and functionality. The basement is now a bright garden-level floor. It houses the main entrance and a spacious family room. The former balcony has become an extension of the living room. A panoramic window opens to the forest. A giant TV on a rail creates a home theater experience. An airy walkway with a cathedral ceiling connects the upper floor. A new children’s bedroom was added to improve circulation. The restored staircase, with its bottle green handrail, now stands as the house’s centerpiece.
Sustainable Design and Winter Aesthetics
The project focuses on energy performance. New insulation and triple-glazed windows boost thermal comfort. The exterior cladding features varied materials in black and white. This design evokes a crisp winter atmosphere. The surrounding ash trees inspired the project’s name and material choices. Natural materials such as bleached ash, lime paint, and painted paneling create a warm environment. Ornamental steel elements and vibrant colors add a modern flair.
A Perfect Balance of Heritage and Innovation
In conclusion, The Ash Tree House is a perfect blend of heritage and innovation. La Nony FAMILI respected the old structure and transformed it into a high-performance home. The project stands as an inspiring example of sustainable design. It shows that modern comfort and historical charm can coexist beautifully.
