Beatriz Quinelato’s “Sopro” transforms a 1930s building within Parque da Água Branca into a 45 m² sanctuary that balances heritage and innovation. As part of her fourth CASACOR São Paulo collaboration, Quinelato invites visitors to slow down, breathe, and renew—echoing this year’s “Sowing Dreams” theme—through thoughtful material choices, fluid layouts, and a palette inspired by nature.
Honoring History through Restored Parquet and Wood Weave
First, the original parquet flooring received meticulous restoration, preserving the memory embedded in every plank. Moreover, Quinelato extended this wooden narrative to the ceiling, where Tauari Cerrado Mate panels from Akafloor form a checkered weave. Consequently, the interplay of floor and ceiling wood creates a cohesive framework that gently recalls the home’s architectural roots.
Fluid Living, Reading, and Rest Spaces
Next, custom cabinetry unifies the living room, bedroom, and library into one flowing environment. Specifically, open niches and defined shelving volumes organize books, objects, and artworks without interrupting sightlines. As a result, the space feels vast yet intimate, perfectly suited for both quiet reflection and casual gathering.
Raw Stone Fireplace and Organic Transitions
Additionally, a raw stone fireplace anchors the living area, infusing warmth and reinforcing the project’s cozy ethos. Meanwhile, an organic partition conceals the bathroom, where the same rugged stones line the shower and countertop. Therefore, transitions between public and private zones remain seamless, as if one breath dissolves into the next.
Furniture and Sculpture as Living Poetry
Furthermore, the Lina armchair—an homage to architect Lina Bo Bardi and crafted by Suíte Design for Lider Interiores—invites repose with sculptural elegance. Equally striking, André Ferri’s “Seres” sculpture rises 1.3 meters, blending wood and ceramics into a form that transcends ordinary decoration. Consequently, these pieces punctuate the space with artistry that feels both intentional and alive.
Nature-Inspired Palette and Views
Then, a soothing palette of off-white, brown, cream, and green brings the outdoors in. Large windows frame trees and the park’s lake, forging a direct connection between interior calm and exterior vitality. In turn, cherry-toned wooden blinds by Amorim Cortinas offer light control and privacy, while soft curtains and rugs enhance thermal, visual, and acoustic comfort.
A Pause for Care and Renewal
Finally, The Environment “Sopro” embodies the idea of pause itself—each element supports a momentary breath amid urban rhythm. By integrating restored heritage details, natural materials, and artful furnishings, Beatriz Quinelato has sculpted an environment where elegance meets well-being and the past gracefully informs the future.
