Benihana restaurant in Paris stands out not only for its exceptional culinary offerings but also for its harmonious fusion of Japanese humility and Parisian elegance. This unique design pays tribute to the core Japanese values of Omotenashi—the art of wholeheartedly caring for guests—and seamlessly blends it with the French “Art de Recevoir,” creating a memorable dining experience.
Embracing the Essence of Japanese Design
From the very first step into the restaurant, guests are welcomed warmly by a reception area that features contemporary lantern-like pendant lights, evoking traditional Japanese hospitality. Additionally, French artisans have meticulously recreated a classic Parisian shopfront painted in elegant anthracite and gold tones. Furthermore, intricate Kumiko screens, designed to resemble rays of sunlight, invite patrons inside, immediately setting the tone for the intimate experience ahead.
On the ground floor, home to the sushi bar, the atmosphere is intentionally bright and fresh. Here, natural elements dominate, from a marble bar top reminiscent of a forest floor to translucent stone leaves, wooden floors, and straw-textured walls. Moreover, lotus-shaped lampshades softly illuminate the area, complemented by striking Kintsugi lines—golden seams that artistically repair “broken” walls, inspired by the ancient Japanese pottery technique.

Straw render, traditional in Japanese finishes, is combined with elegant brass accents. Additionally, art pieces such as hand-painted birds, branches, and a pine tree bas-relief merge Japanese carving techniques with French plaster artistry, creating an inviting yet sophisticated atmosphere.
Meanwhile, the first floor shifts into a darker, moodier ambiance, serving as a stage for chefs who dazzle diners with their culinary theatrics. Here, neutral walls act as a canvas, accented by an extension of the pine tree artwork gracefully painted onto the ceiling. Moreover, bespoke wall lights crafted from hammered brass cast subtle glows, enhancing the dramatic effect and creating intimate dining pockets.
Artistry and Craftsmanship in Every Detail
Each decorative element at Benihana Paris narrates its own story. For example, unique Kumiko-inspired metal screens, handcrafted by French artisans, highlight the fusion of cultures.
