In Camberwell, Melbourne, Colour Way House is a beautiful mix of old-world charm and modern design. The 19th-century Victorian home has been transformed into a stylish family space. It keeps its historic feel while adding bold, artistic touches.
New York-Inspired Style
The homeowners were inspired by the New York apartment of supermodel Carmen Dell’Orefice. They wanted a space with plush fabrics, bold colors, and vintage pieces. The Stylesmiths turned this vision into reality. They used repurposed vintage furniture and blended it with the home’s original features, giving it a fresh, modern vibe.
Modernizing the Victorian Rooms
The Stylesmiths updated the Victorian rooms with new furnishings, surfaces, and fixtures. Each room tells a color story. The sitting room, for example, has speckled wallpaper in soft blue and pink. The art deco chairs are reupholstered in bottle green velvet. Accents of navy, black, and gold add sophistication, reflecting the family’s vibrant personality.
Breathing New Life into Beloved Furniture
One key goal of the redesign was to renew the homeowners’ beloved furniture. The circular dining table, for instance, was given a modern look with Black Japan lacquer and a glass top. Personal art, posters, and prints now decorate the communal spaces. This mix adds beauty and personal meaning.
A Journey Through Color
Each room in Colour Way House has its own feel. The dining room feels light and airy, while the upstairs landing, with its magenta carpet, adds a touch of luxury. Every space uses color to create a sense of balance between elegance and coziness.
Conclusion
Colour Way House shows how a historic home can be updated for modern living. The Stylesmiths used bold colors, rich textures, and personal touches to create a space that honors the home’s past while embracing the present.
