Deloitte University Asia Pacific China (DU AP China) stands as the first independent campus in the Asia Pacific region and one of Deloitte University’s seven global campuses. This landmark project redefines educational spaces by merging future technology with green sustainability, local cultural roots, and a refined industrial memory. Moreover, aoe designed the interior and coordinated all disciplines while managing the entire process from concept to implementation.
Innovative Design Rooted in Culture and Sustainability
DU AP China embodies a world-class green and intelligent education base that fuses digital innovation with human elements. First, the team built the project around four core concepts:
- Future Technology: Modern digital elements create an environment reminiscent of a futuristic space station.
- Green Sustainability: Energy efficiency and eco-friendly materials drive the campus toward sustainable design.
- Rooted in Local Culture: Designers incorporate Chinese elements, such as the “perfect match” installation in the reception area, to merge tradition with modern aesthetics.
- Refined Industrial Memory: The architects transform old industrial cues into a sophisticated architectural language that honors the site’s history.
Furthermore, visitors step into the campus and immediately encounter a lobby that feels both contemporary and timeless. A three-story high space, complemented by large screens and dynamic lighting, creates an immersive atmosphere. Notably, a standout feature shines: a large lantern crafted from double-layer translucent ETFE film reinterprets the traditional Chinese lantern with a modern twist. Additionally, wooden steps paired with color-changing cushions offer inviting spots for relaxation and conversation.
Immersive Learning and Connected Spaces
In addition, the design of DU AP China goes beyond aesthetics to create transformative learning experiences. For example, the History Gallery on the first floor of the atrium invites guests to begin their journey in the welcoming Café Area. Above this area, the Magnetic Wall and the Tree of Culture & Values serve as focal points that link the home’s history with modern smart campus technology.
Moreover, the project enriches the learning experience with over 40 independent classrooms. Designers connected these rooms with space tunnels extending from the Magnetic Wall, where small groups engage in discussions, consultations, and cooperative projects. Furthermore, the Future Classroom—equipped with high-end multimedia technology—provides an immersive setting that fosters digital and human interaction, cultivates new learning habits, and supports leadership development.
Additionally, skywalks in the atrium encourage participants to move between various functional areas, thereby stimulating both learning and communication. For instance, one area features the Grand Ballroom foyer, where futuristic technology meets local culture. Likewise, dragon scale-shaped lighting, wave-patterned wallpaper, and elegant carpeting create a space that radiates sophistication and energy.
On the other side of a vibrant green wall, two “space energy centers” invite social interaction and relaxation. The restaurant, with its cosmic fantasy theme, celebrates cultural diversity by evoking images of the universe and stars. Meanwhile, the bar, styled in a striking blend of sci-fi and cyberpunk, delivers a modern twist that complements the overall design.

Ultimately, DU AP China transcends the traditional educational institution model. It inspires potential and promotes advanced leadership by blending historical charm with forward-looking design. In addition, by fostering interconnection and collaboration, the campus paves the way for eco-conscious, intelligent learning environments.
