LemayMichaud proudly presents the innovative design of the Quebec City offices for the esteemed law firm Fasken. This project won the Interior Design of the Year Award at the 16th edition of the Grands Prix du Design. Located at 365 Abraham Street, the offices span 37,490 square feet over two and a half floors in Quebec City’s Old Port, revealing the city through its extensive windows.
Bright and Modern Spaces
The goal was to create a youthful, modern workspace that also exudes prestige and sophistication. With floor-to-ceiling windows on all sides, the building reveals its concrete structure, making the upper levels bright and airy. These floors offer breathtaking views of Quebec City, including landmarks such as the Gare du Palais, the Old Port, and the lower town. The design capitalizes on these views, ensuring maximum natural light flows into both private and public areas.
Combining Modernity with Elegance
A striking architectural staircase encased in a vibrant yellow glass cube connects the floors vertically. This staircase links the three levels of public space, creating a visual and physical connection. The bright yellow adds a lively yet timeless element to the office, evoking the glow of city street lamps reflecting off the Louise Basin at dusk.
The rest of the interior features a minimalist black-and-white color scheme, enhancing the elegance and timelessness of the space. This palette allows the stunning views through the extensive windows to take center stage. The use of premium materials and furniture underscores the office’s prestigious atmosphere. Black and white cubic volumes divide the open space, creating distinct work areas while maintaining a sense of openness. Light filters through the entire office, ensuring every workstation benefits from natural illumination.
Blending Tradition with Modern Design
The Lawyers’ Library is a nod to the rich history of the legal profession. Designed with a retro aesthetic, it features elements like old-fashioned lamps that recall English-style libraries. This design choice pays homage to the timeless heritage of law while seamlessly integrating with the office’s modern decor. The carefully curated furniture and details ensure that the library, despite its vintage feel, harmonizes with the rest of the office space at the Fasken Quebec City Offices.
