Located in Maracaibo, Venezuela, the Grand Europa Apartment, was designed by NMD Nomadas for a family that loves music.
Description by NMD Nomadas: A family with musical passion for the piano, guitar and bongo claims a unique apartment that allows developing it in their daily lives.
The proposal establishes the definition of zones that range from high to low musical activity, and according to each zone a controlling element was developed for the family´s acoustic comfort towards an ideal coexistence.
The highest level of musical intensity (Access hall -piano- bar) is wrapped in corrugated surfaces; the average intensity zone with perforated surfaces (Living room -lounge -kitchen) and the minimum activity zone (bedrooms) by smooth surfaces or textiles.
On the side, another group of strategies show the rhythmic differences between these zones:
– Through illumination (surface, linear or spot) – Superficial, for personal use zones, linear in the areas of sharing and socializing, or spot as used to dramatize the approach to areas of rest and relaxation;
– Reflective or textured finishes: The reflection is embodied in this case with glass, wood and polished stone for common areas, contrasting with textiles and graphics in the rest areas.
– Neutral or bold colors – The palette of colors in access area is predominantly black and white as a direct reference to the piano that occupies the center of attention in this area, and on this basis neutral in the rest of the common areas are incorporated in a controlled manner vivid colors giving more prominence to the woods. The surfaces of greater color intensity were limited to children’s play areas.
– Fixed furniture of random lines or resting lines – The custom-designed furniture for storing musical instruments is also mobil bar.
