The “Hikari Laboratories” project uniquely transforms a historic Templar barn in Benei Atarot, Israel, into a multifunctional concept hall. This building, steeped in 120 years of history, now serves as a dynamic space for an innovative cosmetics company known for blending traditional techniques with cutting-edge technology.

In the initial planning stages, the owners of Hikari outlined a vision to adapt the space for a range of uses including training for beauticians, staff meetings, various seating and entertainment areas, a CEO office with sophisticated control access, a guest restroom, and a kitchenette. This vision required a design that could accommodate these diverse functions while also embracing the company’s core values of natural materials and technological innovation.

Our design concept was deeply influenced by Hikari Laboratories’ commitment to timeless aesthetics and the integration of historical elements from the original Templar structure. We focused on preserving the character of the exposed stone walls while introducing modern materials like iron and luxurious marble flooring that complement the historical ambiance without overwhelming it.

To achieve a balance between old and new, we meticulously designed new openings to match the original structure’s casings, ensuring that the renovation respects and preserves the building’s historical integrity. The use of natural materials was chosen not only for their aesthetic value but also for their durability and timeless appeal, avoiding short-lived design trends.

The integration of advanced technologies was key in providing functional solutions that fit seamlessly within the old structure, addressing the unique challenges posed by the conservation building. This thoughtful blend of the old and the new has transformed the Hikari Laboratories into a beacon of innovation and history, reflecting both the company’s heritage and its forward-looking ethos.
