Projected by Lake Flato Architects company and built on a land located at the confluence between Hong Pen Creek with Lake Austin, The Hog Pen Creek Residence represents the materialization of the owners’ wish for fresh air and open space, a residence with modern architecture connected to nature and water. The footprint of the building is L-shaped and it was influenced by the presence of some old oaks, as well as by the exploitation of the offered benefits by the presence of the lake. Being pleased by the land that is situated on the strand of the lake, by the freshness of the surrounding nature, the owners wanted a big part of their house to benefit of covered outdoor porches and sidewalks that would link the residence to the environment and to the charm of the place. Also, the residence was brought closer to water by building a large pontoon, which gives a special charm of cottage.
The living area with a height of two stories and the master bedroom from the loft fully benefit of the cold breeze and shade of the surrounding oaks. The bedroom can be opened towards light and nature through a mobile wall that is similar to a folding door. The Hog Pen Creek Residence has a design that allows good versatility, providing both privacy and a good social capacity and it can accommodate without problems both family and guests.
