Neil Dusheiko Architects is an architectural design studio based in Islington, London. Established in 2011, we are an emerging practice, working on small carefully crafted projects that have a richness of detail. We emphasise the use of natural light and natural materials in our work. Creating buildings and spaces that are elegant, timeless and contribute to their surroundings. The practice works with challenging briefs and solves complex problems with rational and clear design solutions.
We work closely with our clients from the outset to develop their brief into an imaginative, pragmatic and cost effective solution that is appropriate to its physical locale and context. We do not have a pre-determined approach to making architecture. Each design solution is unique to the project, the client and the place. Our clients are always at the centre of our design process.
About Neil Dusheiko
Neil Dusheiko studied architecture at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg graduating in 1994 with distinction. Following his studies, he worked for various practices in Sydney, Australia until moving to London in 1998.
Neil has a passion for detail and for creating light-filled homes whose identities are shaped by the experiences of those who commission them and where they are set. Working in a creative studio alongside the canal in Angel, Neil strives to deliver projects that enhance the locations in which they are set. Creating homes people love living in.
Neil lives with his family in Stoke Newington in a home he designed for himself.
From the street, House of the Elements seems like a typical late-19th-century London terrace. Yet behind its traditional Victorian facade lies a transformed interior that feels more like a calming sanctuary than a city home. Designed by Neil Dusheiko Architects for a young professional couple, this project embraces a spa-like atmosphere, open space, and close connections to nature.
Tree View House was formerly a fairly plain bungalow at the end of a cul-de-sac, however, following a series of thoughtful interventions Neil Dusheiko Architects have imbued the home with references to Delhi and California where the family have previously lived.
Our brief was to extend and restore a Victorian semi-detached house that had fallen into disrepair in South Cambridge. Our clients also wanted to add a new-build outdoor leisure space to the end of their garden to house a gym, sauna and spa area.
Dusheiko House is a radical remodelling of a Victorian terrace house in North London. As it is a home for my family, it was a chance to experiment with space and materiality and to explore ideas about what “home making” meant to us.
The Petersen Brick House project has a similar context to our Brackenbury House. The extension sits on a corner of an end of terrace house and is a substantial remodelling and extension to provide accommodation for a family of four.
This project is a richly textured transformation of an end of terrace property in the De Beauvoir Conservation area. It was built for a young family. The De Beauvoir house is located in the middle of a specific row of terrace buildings on the junction of two roads.
The Black Ridge house is an extension to an existing 3-bedroom Victorian terraced house forming part of the Warner Estate in Walthamstow. The project creates a light filled spacious extension with an open plan kitchen, dining, living area at ground floor.
