The Farm Hill house steps down the steep slope, gradually transitioning the users from the street down to a central entry. Once inside, the noise from the adjacent properties are concealed. Barrier walls flank the side boundaries of the home providing privacy, as the occupants focus is drawn towards the expansive views of the city and River Derwent below.
Now airy, bright and modern, the annex that was once the servants’ quarters of this ancestral house in Outremont, was a dark, cramped space before remodeling began in 2019.
Old Stream House is making reference to an old river bed, which now is a big and dense forest. This is where the volume is placed, an asymmetrical gabled house, containing a big living room, with the kitchen and dining room merged in the center.
Doméstico refers to a habitable artifact that allows the condensing of everyday activities into one organizing element that transforms easily, and does not sacrifice comfort.
The architectural complex is designed around two small courtyards, which brings a lot of lightning into the 5 different office types.
A swimming pool with double infinity-edge detailing is visually integrated adjacent to the great room—a pavilion wrapped by full height sliding glass doors.
Dwelling implies movement and stillness. In this house, we wanted to give the same hierarchy to both the places of passage and those of permanence, arranged around or through different patios and gardens.
GIORIO CASA is presented in a neat and precise way with an atrium in the center. The European style arches provide the visitors access to all directions, and a square pond made of two groups of black fiberglass serves its purpose.
