Overlooking the Thermaic gulf, the duplex apartment was designed to house a young growing family. Normless architecture studio completed a full renovation of the flat offering a functional and cozy environment for the owners.
Completed as a collaboration between Studio Zerbey Architecture and Balance Associates Architects, the home was built by McMahon Construction. The natural modern home is sited carefully on a property that has a creek running through its backyard.
Captain Kelly’s Cottage involves the painstakingly considered restoration of the original weatherboard cottage on a remote bay of Bruny Island, Tasmania. Captain Kelly built the cottage in the 1830’s. The original cottage consisted of two structures: bedrooms and kitchen, surrounded by a wide verandah.
The Fontana Lake House is a private lake home located in Swain County. The LEED Gold home is designed to integrate harmoniously with the surrounding Appalachian mountain setting. The understated exterior and the thoughtfully chosen palette blend into the topography of the wooded hillside.
The project is a renovation for a 38 sqm apartment in a newly built building in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Because it was a limited space, the tall furniture had to be concentrated. It was decided to join all the items that could generate visual barriers in blocks and lean them against the few walls of the single dormitory apartment
The main functions of the Cumaru house are concentrated on a single plan, providing a single floor house aspect, sharing abundant lighting and ventilation integrated by a central pool. The upper and lower floor contain spaces of sporadic and private use.
The exterior of the Watermill retreat has a rustic simplicity of a “modern farmhouse”, mimicking the barns common to agricultural Long Island with simple geometric forms grounded in the landscape, natural wood siding, and metal roofs. The siting and shape of the house accomplishes privacy, views, and distinct outdoor spaces.
