Creating a house with a very extensive program on a small plot is the great challenge we face in this project. The house is located in the municipality of L’Horta Nord very close to the city of Valencia.
The refurbishment of an old and long-time uninhabited house is an exciting exercise that implies the obligation of carefully reading the existing spaces in order to get them a new life.
The design, by DG Estudio, is an office conversion for a boutique organization specializing in consulting and career placement. The challenge was to take the existing space—a dark and highly compartmentalized office—and transform it into a modern workplace.
El Cabanyal is on continuous transformation, its rectangular plots have permitted to great combination variability, such as modernist buildings of two to four stories and later on svelte towers of seven or more stories.
The Orchard house is located in the village of Alboraya, in the border area between the urban grid and a great extension of a vegetable and tiger nut garden. It is a house between medians located on the corner of a residential block and therefore enjoys the convenience of urban housing and at the same time, it has its broad views over the orchard that fades into the horizon.
The Vineyard Cottage project pursues a monolithic image of the materials so it can express, in the same inner and outer way, a means to achieve essentiality. Thus, both the concrete shell and the wooden boxes are presented in the same way inside and out, preserving materiality and texture.
Restoration of a town house overlooking two streets with a minor different in altitude between both. The main façade has been maintained along with the two main bays forming the existing construction, with a new side annex being added to this that contains the rear façade and where the garage is housed.
