Carlton Terrace is Period Victorian at front; light, angular and dynamic at rear. The owners asked for a break from the past. A mature couple, with a large and extended family, looked forward to new spaces filled with natural light, all-year living, and the ability to connect visually with their surroundings.
Michael Kai is a Melbourne-based photographer. Born in a town close to Berlin, Germany, Michael spent two years as a documentary photographer in post-war Kosovo before pursuing further studies in Germany and Australia. Michael has worked primarily as a commissioned photographer. His distinctive style incorporates a striking balance of colour, a clean, graphical approach to composition and the use of negative space to frame clear focal points, creating images that are both simple and visually arresting.
A three storey extension to the rear of an existing semi-detached bungalow on a steep, river front site that PP first completed back in ‘08. In 2017 we revisited the interiors adding detail and texture to the original building footprint and palette.
