Sorrento House is a coastal holiday house composed of a series of stepped pavilions reflecting the sites undulating topography. The living space, master bedroom and guest bedroom sit under the main roof plane, while a separate pavilion, linked by the deck, incorporates two further bedrooms.
After a decade or so of owning a coastal holiday house a few houses back with limited views, the clients, an Auckland family of five, decided to take the plunge and when one of the last beachfront sites became available they bought it and set about designing a house for their lifestyle.
It reinterprets a villa of the last century that characterizes this coastal area on the beach of Castellon. The elements used in the neighboring architectures such as the latticework that constitute the fences, the porches are slightly shadow above the street level are updated in the proposal.
This 600 square foot house explores a geometric solution to create luxury with a minimum footprint. The experience and function of this sculptural tiny house is similar to the much larger neighboring homes, despite it’s limited size.
The Layer residence is a large family house located in regional, coastal Victoria. The site is close to the beach yet doesn’t have any views to embrace. The site is largely sloping from the north to the south and is made up of layers of limestone shelves and underground caves.
