Located in a small valley of Vallés in Catalonia, this Spanish farmhouse was reborn a few years ago with the creation of horse stable linked to the property. The starting point for the grand renovation was a three-floor building with austere structure and following the lower height buildings added throughout the time around it.
The project consists of the interior reform of a former gatekeeper residence, located on the roof of a building in the Barcelona district Gracia. Enjoying a privileged location overlooking the neighboring buildings and surrounded by a large terrace, this apartment showed serious deficiencies such as its small size of 38 m2.
Architect Brad Swartz redefined what a small apartment could achieve with the refurbishment project on his tiny space in Darlinghurst. This 27 square metre apartment is designed to comfortably accommodate a couple.
Simplistic aesthetics is not about enforcing strict restraints on material desires. On the contrary, it is about training ourselves to internally reflect on what we really need and care about, and getting rid of the excess to achieve ideal practicality. We fully embraced the spirit of simplistic design.
The project is located in a high-end residential community. In spite of the “high-end” positioning of the project, AD Architecture still endowed it with artistic features. Through feeling the beauty of pureness and quietness in space, the Studio created an elegant residence that purifies and eases people’s mind.
The classic nature of the apartment Salvatori, with its standout features such as the fireplace and original Terrazzo floors, has taken on a new vibrancy as a result of the colour palette chosen by Elisa, in which strong tones in a variety of declinations play off each other.
This concrete white house allowed certain flexibility in the project because it had clients that are entering a new phase in life, with a different focus then families that are just starting. With their children already grown up, their priorities are meeting with friends and pleasures in life that many search just after a mature age.
The previous state of the Sardenya apartment belonged to a way of living incompatible with the requirements of the new owner. These new requirements, even starting from the domestic conventionality, left enough freedom to treat the new apartment in a less corseted way.
