The object of a reconstruction is a country/old suburban house near Kyiv (Ukraine). It was totally neglected by former owners. Original building had a lot of small rooms and an attic. In our redesign we removed the walls including a part of a bearing wall, which was replaced with a wooden beam.
This is a rear extension to a single-storey cottage in Brunswick with difficult orientation characteristics – the north sun only reaching the site from over adjoining houses. The new addition pulls living areas to the rear of the site and uses ‘sun-catchers’ for light and spaciousness in the interior.
