An active young and growing family approached us with a desire to create a home that would give the ability to thoroughly enjoy this serene landscape. They wanted a “low-impact” Casco Bay Island retreat with the capability to welcome frequent visiting family and friends.
The Bedolla house was designed in a complex topography terrain located between mountains and filled with large cedars and oaks. The stone and concrete walls clearly define the heart of the project: a linear courtyard that from the entry runs towards the small oak forest at the foot of the ravine.
Set in the remote, harsh high desert of Idaho, Outpost is an artist’s live-work studio and sculpture garden. The building’s compactness restricts site impact and reinforces the desire to be outside.
The Breakneck Gorge Oikos project successfully met all the clients’ expectations and more – they look out to a sculptured mix of corten form and long masonry blade, which reads neatly as a connection to the landscape rather than an inhabited space.
Old Stone Retreat is designed for a young couple’s weekend retreat and it sits on a magnificent Hudson Valley 6.6 acre mountaintop site. As a phase one of the master plans, existing two and a half story, 2,000 sqft house was stripped down to its three masonry walls and foundation, then reduced to a 1,000 sqft single story structure with 300 sqft addition and basement.
The beauty of this project is the site itself, which overlooks the Portsea Lagoon and Wildlife Reserve. First Lessons House sits low amongst the existing myrtle and tea-trees, at the back corner of the site.
