The Barrio de San Gabriel is undergoing urban transformations. In this street has been constructed San Gabriel house that bets to promote the life of neighborhood, unlike the new multi-family blocks.
This recreational retreat is built on an old majada, as stone sheds are known in the Sierra de Aracena, auxiliary buildings that serve as pantry, chicken coop or for storing implements. It is for this reason that they are usually located on the edge of villages, closer to the rich orchards, like those bordering Cortelazor.
This catalan house is inspired by the old farm buildings that they used to appear outskirts the historical cities centre. The idea starts from the colocation of a principal volume that would include the public spaces of the house and the other smaller volumes contain the private ones.
This building is located on a plot of 4000 m2 with the purpose of becoming the focus of main activity of housing in the summer months. For this, a summer pavilion is created totally open to the garden as a continuity of this one.
A housing unit that due to Barcelona´s rising rental apartment demand was divided, as it happens with theatre plays, in three acts. Located in the very heart of Poblenou it manages to reflect the neighbourhood’s industrial character while sequentially unfolding its spaces in a narrative manner.
It reinterprets a villa of the last century that characterizes this coastal area on the beach of Castellon. The elements used in the neighboring architectures such as the latticework that constitute the fences, the porches are slightly shadow above the street level are updated in the proposal.
A whole flat rehabilitation in a old building of the Born area. It is about transforming a small, compartmentalized floor in an open airy space. The original distribution of the house disappears but the values of all the traditional elements of the housing in Born is preserved and kept: the mosaic floor, ceiling beams, the woodworks …
At la Carme we wanted to keep and maximise the existing footprint of its original hydraulic mosaics with beautiful floor tiles.
