The plot just outside Stockholm is located in a scenic area where mostly weekend homes are inserted among pine trees and rocks. Six Walls House became early in the process a working title. The plot is long and narrow and extends between the road and the water.
Villa G is located in a quiet bay off the southeastern region of the Swedish archipelago. This region is renowned for the oak forests that have contributed to the Swedish boat-building tradition for centuries.
In addition to the Scandinavian traditions, the Swedish summer house draws inspiration from Japan, in an interpretation where simplicity, wood and the relationship with the surrounding nature are at the heart of the architecture.
Located east of Gothenburg, the Öjersjö-house is a modest dwelling overlooking the lake Stora Kåsjön. Designed by Swedish Bornstein Lyckefors Architects Villa Öjersjö is a contemporary black wooden house. The dwelling interweaves with the site in a concept where the program is swept under the ”carpet” by lifting the landscape.
The Dalarna house was specifically situated along a north to south axis so that the homeowners can have the morning sun at breakfast and, as the day goes on, enjoy the sunset from the master bedroom.
Whittle Away is an attempt to portray the design-DNA that Stoft brings with them to their design process. Commissioned for the exhibition “What’s your DNA?”, presented during Dutch Design Week 2017.
An office space – an minimalist design apartment without either bathrooms, kitchen or storage – the former head office of a fashion brand in the center of Stockholm and a client that hoped to transform it into a home.
Inside the Spine house, the concrete wall winds its way further down the narrow site towards the water, and forms itself into bathrooms, storage space and a fireplace. Gathered around this concrete spine, wooden volumes hover just above the ground.
The entrance side of the Glass house features a solid façade wall, plastered and decolored to matte black. The only interruption is a ceiling-high pivot door with a thin lattice of black stained oak filtering the light.
The site is a promontory on the relatively small island of Krokholmen in Stockholm’s outer archipelago: a typical archipelago landscape with windswept dwarf pines and soft mountain outcrops produced by the inland ice.
