This modern home addition links to the existing residence via a protected deck which becomes an outdoor living space in summer, with retracting glazed doors. The kitchen and living, and bedroom wings are separated by a dining area that steps down to a patio that is naturally shaded by an existing camellia tree.

Rathmines House is an alteration and addition to a Victorian weatherboard house in Fairfield. The poorly planned layout of the existing dwelling contained a lean-too out the back, housing the laundry and bathrooms to the north and living spaces to the south. A narrow corridor provided the only connection to the backyard.
The Garden Wall house had to sit alongside the existing studio/garage building, allow for direct entry to the second dwelling from the lane way plus maintain access into the garage and to the studio above whilst retaining sunlight in the existing studio room, where the owner worked.
