The weekend cabin is perched on a granite outcropping in the White Mountains. It was sited to project precariously over a steep drop-off, allowing dramatic views across the valley at several prominent peaks.

Designed by Murdough Design, the Squam Lake Cabin is a lake home for a family and their guests. Sitting on an existing foundation, the home is thought of as a simple box protected by a large sheltering roof, with spaces designed to create a variety of distinct experiences.
The Stonington Residence, a recently renovated and restored historic house, is sited between 300 feet of waterfront and a large meadow in Stonington, Connecticut. While the house is situated on a small stone ledge, additional rock outcroppings of the landscape help to organize the outdoor spaces, which include a studio and garage, a pool, and patios.
The Horseshoe Bay house is a symbiotic blend of casual lake living with an over-arching aesthetic that is at once vernacular and sophisticated. Rough materials were reinvented and crafted to blend these notions. Site slope was a major factor in the overall design and site plan of the house.
The Oaks Residence remains mysterious and de-objectified, and the landscape takes on the reading as the primary object of the project. The interior of the house develops along an unfolding spatial sequence that constantly orients and reorients the viewer to the site as one moves through the project, knitting the site and the house together.
Completed as a collaboration between Studio Zerbey Architecture and Balance Associates Architects, the home was built by McMahon Construction. The natural modern home is sited carefully on a property that has a creek running through its backyard.
