Located in the Highvill Ishim residential complex, near Presidential Park and the Palace of Peace and Accord in Astana, this 130-square-meter apartment is perfect for a family of four. Inspired by Asian minimalism, the design creates a sense of openness and light, despite low ceilings.

Addressing Client Needs

After living in the apartment for two years, the clients sought help from a design studio. They wanted to enhance the feeling of spaciousness, dealing with the 2.8-meter ceilings and a small dressing room.

Innovative Design Elements

The interior design avoids monotony through creative use of forms and materials. A central cube-shaped feature serves as a focal point visible from the living, dining, and kitchen areas. Its wooden finish adds warmth and maintains a simple, elegant look without dominating the space.

Harmonious Color Palette

“The main color scheme features white, accented with warm wood tones. The furniture upholstery matches the curtains in both scale and texture, creating a cohesive and cozy atmosphere. Key decorative elements include a niche in the living room wall and a distinctive section in the dining area, both finished with terrazzo-textured porcelain stoneware,” explain Sergey Bekmukhanbetov and Rustam Minnekhanov, the lead designers at Kvadrat architects.

Enhancing Space and Functionality

To improve the sense of space, the redesign made significant changes to the owner’s bedroom. They created better storage solutions with a 6-meter walk-in closet and additional hidden wardrobes within the bedroom. The bathroom was also expanded, featuring a large cabinet for storing essentials.

Final Touches and Ambiance

The redesigned apartment in Astana exudes a sense of airiness and tranquility. Asian-inspired aesthetics subtly influence the design, providing a calming and rejuvenating atmosphere.

In conclusion, this apartment in Astana successfully blends Asian minimalism with practical design solutions. The result is a spacious and serene home for a family of four. Careful modifications and attention to detail have turned it into a welcoming, functional, and stylish living space.
