Ceramiche Refin tiles play centre stage in this outstanding project by Brazilian architect Diego Revollo. The 130m² apartment is located in Alto da Lapa with the lawyer client buying off plan. The client realised immediately that the interior space needed to be radically different, he wanted something personal yet perennial. The basic elements needed to be high quality and original and this is where the tiles came into their own. In this scheme the architect combined the best of Brazilian with enduring European design influences. Panels of American Walnut used with local Cumaru wood (Brazilian gold teak) juxtaposed against a soft textural grey palette; sculptural furniture and artefacts with transparent elements of lighting alongside accessories.
The entire design was set against a bold backdrop of a fully clad kitchen zone where the porcelain tiles are used 360°. Ceramiche Refin’s Frame Carpet porcelain tiles are used on the floor, walls and ceiling – they are quite simply the star of the show.
These contemporary porcelain tiles are a modern take on a classic, they have a randomised pattern that is geometric and detailed, injecting personality into the space whilst bringing the kitchen area to life. The collection designed by Studio FM Milano won the prestigious European Design Award for the Frame Collection. Frame Carpet tiles turn the usual tile conventions on its head by reversing tile patterning and shading.
